FQ CEO ROBERT CAVALLUCCI’S MESSAGE TO THE FOOTBALL COMMUNITY
Dear football family,
As the reality of COVID-19 continues to unfold, our thoughts are with you our participants, your families and our entire football community.
At Football Queensland, your health and wellbeing is our first priority as we navigate these uncharted waters.
In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, all football activity including matches, training sessions, courses and all other football related activities have been suspended as of Tuesday 17 March until 14 April 2020. I want to reassure you that this is a temporary measure; we are working tirelessly with FFA to ensure the long-term sustainability of our sport, so that the game can return to normal as soon as possible.
As the largest participation sport in Queensland, collectively we have a social responsibility to take action to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
I understand the impact this has on you all, and I appreciate your ongoing cooperation and support. Football is an ecosystem, we cannot underestimate the importance of the role each of us play within that system and the impacts our actions might have on the game as a whole.
While football is temporarily suspended, it is important to continue to support and register with your local club to ensure we can all continue to enjoy the game we love when football recommences. Our football clubs have always played a pivotal role in our community, acting as enablers of health and wellbeing whilst being a cornerstone in the creation of social cohesion. We need to keep our clubs strong and they need to know the community has their back.
In the coming weeks, Football Queensland together with FFA will be rolling out a suite of digital content to keep you engaged and connected with football.
In closing, I would like to thank you all for your patience and continued support. Our game has never before faced such a challenge, however our love of football and sense of community has never been stronger.
Please look after yourselves and your loved ones. We will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available.
